this has got to be the best phone ive ever had,so easy to use & quick. The camera could do with a flash & a bigger screen but otherwise its superb, the app market is getting more apps as well, ive even stopped using my i pod touch since i got this, music wise its great too, the sound is great, design your own cover as well

Not My Real Name
Great Introduction to Smartphones
Date: March 9, 2010
This is a great little phone for getting a feel for smartphones and Android. It does everything well but is not outstanding in any area.
Positives:
Easy to use Android OS - I've never used a Smartphone before and haven't ever needed the manual. Sense UI from HTC is brilliant.
Very easy connectivity to Wireless, Google Mail etc.and Internet works fine.
Android Market fun but it's a bit of a novelty really (I'm not a big app user).
Negatives:
Screen could be a bit bigger - the QWERTY keyboard in portrait is too small.
Like most touchscreen phones one-handed use is tricky - it's better to use two-handed.
To sum up it's great value for money - I can't recommend it highly enough.
Just don't think of it as competing with the iPhones and Nexus One's of this world - it's priced well below them and should be judged accordingly.

HTC TATTOO

I have had this phone since December 2009 and can say that it is extremely difficult to get anywhere with it.
Its oversensitive and has on occassions called my contacts whilst in my pocket.
No instruction booklet doesnt help either.
Stay away from this phone. There are plenty of other worthy phones in a similar catagory!!

I have used a few Android devices and this has to the worst "smartphone" I have had the pleasure to give back.
The phone is overall too small and the screen is over-sensitive making it extremely hard work.
Avoid - wait for the HTC Desire or Nexus One.

I found this extremely difficult to use. Not having an instruction book was just one of the obstacles. The phone looks good, nice balance etc etc .... but awful from my point of view to use !!!!!! Have tried with it for 2 months now and hate the thing ! As for rating the features....maybe I will when I can find them !

HTC TATTOO, LOVE IT!! :-D
Date: February 15, 2010
iv had this phone just over a week and i love it,everything about it,before i got this i had the samsung genio slide and the nokia N97 mini but i sent them back after a few days with them both(couldnt get on with them didnt like them), and finally got this phone as an exchange, everyone was raving about the N97 mini but to be honest i didnt see wot all the fuss was about especially whilst paying 35 quid a month it were`nt worth it the phone were`nt for me i didnt like it,this HTC on the other hand im loving, its totally affordable and could give the bigger and more expensive well known phones a run for their money!(for me it did i chose it over the N97 mini!)im playing with it all the time, making calls rearranging the widgets etc customizing everything on the choice of 7 home screens it to just how you want it,is fantastic, getting to know my way around took abit of time but goes with every phone dont it,only thing i would say is that they could`ve added a stylus with it as unless you have tiny fingers is a bit akward with texting, imputting words in browser, but thats easily sorted i bought one off a well known auction site cheap enough, there is too much to say about this phone but for me i have`nt looked back ,when the time comes i`ll be upgrading to another HTC phone!

Grrrreat!!!!
Date: February 13, 2010
Having been a die hard Nokia user for the past 15 years this has been a giant step for me. The HTC Tattoo is the first smart phone I have used and after a week of using it i was ready for throwing it in the bin, however not wanting to be beaten and now after a month of use I have managed to master it and I must say its different but I really do find it quite simple and easy to use. The apps are great and the feel and build quality seem up to scratch, there is definately a technique to removing the battery cover, you can even design your own covers for this phone which i think is a great idea. I have had no problems with the battery life so far and yes you can modify the settings to increase the battery life which is a great idea. The only real issue i have had with this phone is the bluetooth but i beleive you can download an app to solve this problem. To summarise I really have taken to this phone and think HTC have created a really nice product here. Well Done HTC I will definately be buying more of your products!!

Great little phone!!
Date: February 5, 2010
Had this phone since november & haven't had one problem with it!
Internet is quick & connecting to wifi is easy as pie.
It can be a little tricky to use at first but who doesn't have a fiddle about with their new gadgets?!
Tons of apps to keep you in order & for sheer amusement purposes, Also nice to make custom theme's so everything is where you want it.
Bluetooth can be sorted easily by downloading a transfer app off the market. I could actually rant on about how nice a phone it is :P
Camera isn't amazing but it does what needed but that's the only downfall I can think of..
Also I like the ability to link my contacts to their facebooks as it saves hunting down millions of pics for them all :)

Great phone, awkward to use
Date: February 1, 2010
I got a good deal on this great looking mobile. It "feels" very nice, not just like a cheap little plastic toy. The hardware is great as well as the battery life - I charge it every 4 or 5 days and it is on around the clock, however wifi has to be swiched off as it drains the batteries. It is a great phone, but with a big downside: the operating system. I never had any problem at least to use the basic functions straight away when I got a new phone, but this one is different. VERY DIFFERENT! As documentation/manual is almost zero you have to be willing to spend a lot of time with this phone just trying to find even simplest functions. Once you've found the functions it is fine, but till you get there,...... It feels like the complete layout of the OS is not thought through at all and it doesn't comply with anything I've ever used so far (Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Siemens, LG, Samsung, iPhone....).
Would I go for it again? Maybe not - which is a shame as the hardware is great and the design is fab. Sadly the OS lets it down so very much.

What is the problem here. I love my tatto. Ok, so it took a while to set up but it is working great for me. Free on a 20 quid contract! I really can't complain. The best bit. Is its ability to sync with google mail and calendars. The worst bit is the camera. A. Great budget phone!

Nothing but Problems
Date: January 22, 2010
The Good:
Nice Screen, good colour range but touch response is a little slow and no multi touch, resulting in v..e..r..y.. ..s..l..o..w.. typing.
Like the connection to your google acount and doing online contact storage.
Camera has good quality and I like the way it can connect and upload photos and videos to facebook and youtube respectively. Although no flash lets it down in low light conditions.
Customisable home screens are nice, you can get local weather reports based on your GPRS/GPS location, you can also get a full screen sized email widget or bookmark link one.
The Bad:
Unlocks itself in my pocket then sets alarms at random times, best one was at 3.27am labeled S@ZT4. Although usually its in the daytime so less of an irritant but still annoying.
If i put passkey on then I get the phone perma locked because it keeps getting the key wrong in my pocket, then I have to enter my google account details to access it.
As said above, the customisable home screens are also changed if I don't put a passkey on it, random links appear and other widgets are deleted, Once I had a full screen of google.com links on the far left home screen.
One of the phones hidden features is its random restarting, this has occured in the middle of a uni lecture, this phone makes ALOT of noise when it turns on and there is no way to stop it. This has happened at a peak of 4 times in a single lecture (2 hours), eventually I just removed the battery and threw the phone into my bag and apologised to the rest of the lecture attendees and lecturer who were none too pleased at me or the phone.
Yesterday it removed all of my contacts, wiped out my app data, removed my prefrences, my settings and removed my customised home screens. IE a complete reset, I have no idea how it happened since it had been sitting on my desk all day.
Small face buttons have started to come apart after a couple fo weeks particularly the metal around the back and home buttons which have bent back and now stab into my fingers when I try to use those buttons. It isnt painful but it is noticeable and they tended too hook into the small ridges of my fingerprints which then starts to hurt a little.
Its more than just a pain becuase this is my 2nd Tattoo, the first one had similar problems and was returned within 2 weeks.
Lack of support from android store for the screen size leads to too few truely useful applications and even fewer updates, even now after the phone being out for nearly 6 months which really shows the niche which HTC have put themselves in with this phone.
Conclusion:
Some people have had fantastic times with this phone and cannot praise it enough and I do wish I was one of them because I have had nearly the polar opposite experience.
Save yourself the hassle and get the magic or hero, this phone has just been a disappointment for me.

quirky phone ...
Date: January 22, 2010
ok the iphone is the iphone but you also pay for it too....this little beauty will do all the quirky apps (will play bbc iplayer on 3g and the iphone can't do that) the texting is really good super quick internet if you compare it to n97, jet and other supposedly higher spec phone. Pound for pound it is a very good phone and i can't wait for a version that as a bit of a better camera, maybe a newer 'hero.' phone when that happens then we will truely have a very good competitor to the iphone reign of 'best device'

Just read reviews to see what i have let myself in for! Tattoo husbands upgrade, he couldnt stand it, so i thought i should give it a home! Apart from the usual very difficult removal of the back cover, battery life poor, no data transfer via bluetooth from my old phone and the camera being a bit naff, I truly love it!! Once you get it, it is very easy to get round all the apps, and yes i too have sent more than one blank message, send button to near the text input box!! Its not perfect but its not pretending to be!! A fun little phone!!

Great features; poor battery life
Date: December 28, 2009
I've had this phone for about a month now. I read lots of reviews on various websites about before getting it and the recurring theme was a poor battery life. I definitely agree with the other reviewees and it is the phone's only real downfall. I have been downloading lots of free apps from Android Market (one of the best features of the phone) pretty much every day and surfing the web quite a bit, which has meant needing to charge the battery on a daily basis. Although I must say the battery fully charges quite quickly in less than two hours. But if you're looking for a phone to last several days without needing a recharge, then the HTC Tattoo is definitely not for you. The touch screen and customisable home pages is fantastic though and so if your not too bothered about the battery (and never too far from a power socket) then this phone is definitely worth a bash.

Perfect mid-range Android fun
Date: December 17, 2009
I adore my Tattoo. I’ve had it about three weeks and barely put it down (even my wife is complaining!). It’s a perfect size and feel. The screen is good, but not great (don’t expect iPhone quality) - I find it responsive but a little small sometimes – like when you want to type in portrait mode, but then I just flip it horizontally. It has less Android apps available, but I notice more being changed to fit the Tattoo every day. I have more than enough to fit my needs anyway. HTC Sense is great and the phone syncs with Facebook and Google (maps, mail etc) beautifully. You can really customise it to how you want – apps here, widgets there (including the great digiclock and weather). I love how it adds Facebook pictures to the contacts on my phone. Music is good and helped by a 3.5mm headphone socket. Battery life is on a par with other smart phones. My only real disappointment is the camera (needs bright light to work ok and no autofocus which the barcode scanner apps need I believe) which is why I haven’t given the Tattoo five stars. Do consider though, this is an Android phone -- it is not for people scared of technology and does require 'playing with' to get the most out of it -- but it is worth it when you do.

Fantastic phone!
Date: December 10, 2009
I LOVE this phone! I was a bit unsure having read some reviews but didn't see any other phone that I liked so decided to go with it. I am so pleased I did. Getting the back off is a little tricky but no worse than some other phones I have had and it's not like you do it all the time. Both phone pad and qwerty keyboard I have found very easy to use, The sound quality when making a call is the best I have known in a mobile. The features are very useful, available apps mind boggling and those I have downloaded have been brilliant. All in all, choosing this phone was the best move I have made in my mobile owning history!
