I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review. My previous device was a dinosaur. The moment I unboxed the Huawei P20 pro I realised that an upgrade was necessary. The jump of quality is indescribable. Firstly, the device is the biggest I have owned and still maintains a sleek appearance thanks to the glass/metal built. I was blown away by the size of the screen; it fills the whole area with minimal bezel, guaranteeing an easy handling experience. Looking at the 6.1" OLED display felt like taking off glasses for the first time. It looks amazingly crisp, the text is always sharp, even when small. Even after a month with this phone, I still have small AWE moments, and this says a lot about it! Set up was incredibly easy. I was expecting a great amount of bloatware, but it was totally fine. I loved the amount of customisation offered by Huawei’s own EMUI. I was excited to see that I could choose my own theme, to have my apps in a drawer, to hide the notch and that I had a choice of home buttons. I really love is the possibility of splitting the screen, which is extremely handy when using apps like Youtube while texting. Looking forward to trying that in desktop mode! I’m thoroughly impressed with security; my previous phone was one of the first ones with fingerprint recognition and it’s incredible to witness how far the technology has gone. Nonetheless, face recognition shocked me. It is so fast that it feels like there is no face recognition at all! Finally, I love the possibility of having another user and having multiple apps with different accounts. About the Leica Triple Camera. The quality of the pictures is out of this world, the colours pop incredibly and feel alive. The 3x optical zoom is stunning, the quality loss is almost non-existent. The AI is fun to play with. I own pet rats and the AI can surprisingly categorise them either as cats or dogs, which is incredible for such unusual pets. I knew, though, that to test the actual capability of the lenses I had to try the Pro Mode. I was absolutely stunned by it. I played with shutter speed and exposure in low light and the results is incredible; I managed to shoot a lightening without quality loss! Another important mention is the depth of field, which is great even without boketh enhancements. Honourable mentions include sound quality, connectivity, battery, speed (Octacore + 6GB = lightening) and IP67! Long story short…Huawei P20 Pro is utterly amazing!

I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review. It had a wow factor when it was first out of thebox. Its smart, sleek and good looking smart phone with a mixture of glass and aluminium. The 6.1 screen size is just prefect for me to hold onto with one hand typing. The facial recognition and fingerprint scanner unlock the phone was incredibly worked really well and quick. It surely added on a bit more security on personal data. The phone is water resistant which is truly advertised, i had an unfortunate experience to drop this into the water for 2 seconds but i had no issue after all. The battery life (4000mah ) is long and impressive. It can last for more than a day or two if you are intermediate user. Its a big credit for me as i dont have to bring my portable charge when you are out all day. It also charges up so quickly. The camera is heart of this phone, it takes almost every boxes. The low light mode, Lecia Triple amera and the Hybrid zoom, you will get more detailed, quality images especially outdoor photos . The colourful pics and pin sharp with a good balance of exposure between highlights and shadow. Its hard to explain but you get lots of compliments when you shared your beautiful pictures with others. I never stop playing with it, feel like a professional who is taking some quality pictures. The only down size is the auto camera setting dont always produce the best result, i feel like a bit unnatural and garish. It also lacks of wirless charging but its not a big issue for me. The overall performance is very good, the camera is a joy of this phone. I would highly recommend this phone.

I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review.
I've been testing the Huawei P20 pro for several weeks now, when I can pry it away from my wife. It has become her daily driver and for good reason.
The battery life is fantastic and easily lasts into a second day of usage, sometimes even a third if she's too busy to do a lot of texting and watching videos.
The screen is as warm and colourful as you'd expect a 1080x2244 AMOLED to be and despite my initial concerns, the notch is not something I notice after using the device for a few days.
The camera is fantastic and has just been updated to offer 960fps slowmo video :D Nice! Taking photos is simple with AI camera. Point it at an object and it works out what it's looking at to use the best photo mode. I did find the beauty features a little aggressive when taking photos of people even after turning them all the way down but otherwise the camera rivals other flagships that I own.
The 3x optical zoom offered by the combination of 40MP, 20MP and 8MP sensors is a great addition and one which I'd likje to see from other manufacturers in future.
The phone runs Android Oreo 8.1 with Huawei's EMUI 8.1 skin over the top which makes it look a bit like an iPhone. I'm not a fan of this but you can change the launcher to Nova or similar to get most things looking how you like. Diving further into the settings and there are several useful features such as being able to create a secure folder and seeing which apps use the most ram/battery/storage.
All in all it's a great phone and the only thing that might put the general users off this is the price. The RRP is similar to flagships from more well-known brands and as big as Huawei are, they're not familiar to the UK public.
That being said I can highly recommend the P20 Pro as a great all-round device with a fantastic camera (well, 4 of them)

I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review. At first glance the phone looks really stylish and the large screen feels very smooth to use and is very responsive. I easily managed to install all my apps from my other phone using phone clone and quickly got on trying out the different features. One really impressive element is the camera - it takes beautiful pictures and captures colours beautifully - i am thinking the lens and AI helps but i am feeling a bit like an real photographer! Next task was to join a group video conference using the phone. Sound quality and reception = amazing, and seamlessly switched to my office wi-fi. Normally using my previous models of phone this test would have caused all sorts of problems but not with the P20 Pro. My colleagues said the sound was like i was sitting in the room with them! Another very useful and cool feature = the facial recognition. Works really well most of the time (unless dark or if i'm wearing sun glasses which is to be expected. In fact there are so many good things to say about this phone I can't fit them all in one review! Thoroughly recommended!

I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review.
Huawei’s P20 Pro is a top-of-the-range productivity powerhouse, gracefully sliding through the myriad of tasks that make up my digital day, all swan-like and majestic.
A powerful processor coupled with 6GB of RAM makes for multitasking that actually works and transitions are effortless and graceful as you zip between apps, functions and screens like a kangaroo on a pogo stick.
This 6.1inch ‘phablet’ device with a gorgeous 2244x1080pixel AMOLED screen is sure to get you some envious looks with a sleek glass finish front and rear. It comes in black, midnight blue, pink gold or ‘twilight’ and the chromatic gradient of twilight really does have to be seen to be believed.
I’m not usually a fan of operating systems that are ‘optimised’ by manufacturers but Huawei’s EMUI is a nicely crafted adjunct to the Oreo 8.1 core, and, crucially, battery life is superb. This is the first device I’ve owned where genuinely I’ve been able to forget about ‘charging opportunities’ or dialling down performance to keep it alive. One day I forgot to charge overnight yet I still had enough juice to get through the next day. And when charging is required the 4000mAh cell reaches 50% from a standing start in less than 30 minutes.
Much has been made of the P20’s photography credentials. There’s a trio of rear cameras (which do look a little unusual, with one standing proud of the body) including one with a 40Mp sensor that all work in tandem to optimise and stabilise your pictures and videos which look A-maz-ing with no effort required.
Even top-of-the-range handsets involve compromise. In the case of the P20, you’ll find a notch in the display (though, cleverly, you can opt to fill in the space either side with a black bar if you want). There’s also no headphone jack (a USB-C set of buds is included). You can also forget about wireless charging or adding a card for more storage (though 128GB should be plenty). These niggles, to me at least, matter less than I thought they might and I can’t conceive of going back to lethargic, slow devices that cry out for power like a baby in the night. Huawei are setting the standard in power, performance and those photos? Picture perfect.
